Weekly Weekend Update

I'm going to start posting weekend updates.  I thought it would be fun to be able to go back and look at what we did.  I'll backtrack just a bit and start with two weekends ago and then get to this past weekend.

Unfortunately we didn't take any pictures either weekend, so this will be a boring post!

October 7th - 9th

On Friday night we headed over to Dan and Laura's for some dinner.  Jake and Holly were also there and we had a delicious dinner!  We had chicken, some homemade wheat rolls, steamed broccoli, baked potatoes, squash and homemade apple pie.  We made dinner altogether and then enjoyed eating and visiting.

On Saturday we watched our friend Joe and Naomi's kids.  Joe had his tonsils out and is out of commission and Naomi's mom was in town to go through the temple for the first time.  So we watched all three kids (a 3 year old, a 20 month old, and a 2 month old) while Naomi was at the temple with her mom.  We had a great time with their kids and were super busy!  We headed to a pumpkin patch to get the kids outside and Matt needed to pick up some pumpkins for a young men's activity on Wednesday.  It was a little crazy trying to walk through the pumpkin patch with 3 kids and get 10 pumpkins.  However, they had a great time and loved finding little paths to explore.  I can't count the number of times the older two children fell because they were caught on a pumpkin vine.  Luckily they're tough kids and it didn't even faze them.  Matt started carrying the 20 month old on his shoulders so she could keep up.  After we got all 10 pumpkins we headed home for lunch.  After lunch we went to the park and played for a bit before putting them down for nap. Watching their kids made Matt and I excited for when we can do these kinds of things with our own kids.  I love watching Matt with kids and the joy that he gets from being around them.  I know he's going to be a great dad!

Sunday was a relaxing day and we got geared up for another week!

October 14th - 16th

On Friday we had a quick dinner (french toast, I love breakfast for dinner) at home and then headed over to Laura's to watch a movie.  Dan had a campout with the scouts and Laura was going to be home with the baby by herself, so Matt and I joined her for the evening.  We watched Source Code - I thought it was an interesting movie.  Unfortunately we couldn't stay over very late because we had to get up early (4:30) the next morning!

On Saturday we worked at the temple in the morning.  I love working in the temple and being able to more fully understand the covenants that I have made.  It is amazing how strong the spirit is and how happy it makes me.  Then we came home and had a relaxing rest of the day.

On Sunday we went to church and didn't do too much else!

These past two weekends weren't too exciting, but sometimes you need slower weekends!

Here's a great video on the blessings of the temple:

*I'll try to better and take pictures each weekend!
