We flew in late on Wednesday night, my poor parents had to come and pick us up at 11PM! The next morning my dad was so sweet as to pick up Melissa (Ashley's and my friend from BYU) and let Matt and I sleep in. Then Matt, Melissa, and I drove down to San Diego to surprise Ashley and Byron. We had my parents tell Ashley that they were coming so she would be expecting company. Ashley called my mom multiple times, which was difficult because if she were driving Ashley would be able to hear the noise of the freeway, etc and also be able to talk to my dad. At one point my dad came home from work and got into the van with my mom to call Ashley and fake her out. My dad couldn't do this all day, so my mom picked up her cell phone, but she wasn't in the car. One time when Ashley called the home phone rang! My mom was thoroughly stressed out by the time we got to Ashley's! Well, we got to Ashley's and had difficulty finding her apartment. We were all in the car and Ashley and Byron came driving by, so we all ducked down. Melissa then thought that Ashley saw us so I got out of the car... Ashley didn't see us and her face was confused and shocked when she saw me standing there. It was a crazy surprise, but luckily Ashley was completely surprised and had no idea we were coming! For the rest of the day we just hung out and I held Lila as much as possible! She is just so cute and I am may be biased, but I believe she is the cutest baby ever!
Driving to San Diego!
On Friday my parents met Melissa, Matt and I at Sea World. Matt had never been before and it had been about 10 years since I last went. We had tons of fun and were able to see all the shows. It's funny how the shows haven't changed in 10 years! After Sea World we drove back to Torrance.

Saturday my parents, Matt and I drove up to PV because it was a beautiful, clear day. We took a tour of the lighthouse and then went to a little carnival type thing that was being held because it was the 35 year anniversary of Rancho Palos Verdes. The view was gorgeous and Catalina looked so close! We went to Grandma Carter's for dinner, then saw the movie "Fireproof." I really enjoyed the movie, it has a great message and leaves you feeling uplifted.

Sunday morning we drove back down to San Diego for Lila's baby blessing. The blessing was really sweet and Lila looked so cute in the dress that Byron's mom made for her. After church we went to Ashley's clubhouse for a delicious dinner. So much family came, which made it really fun. I miss being around so much family! My parents, Matt and I stayed in a hotel in San Diego for the night so we didn't have to drive back and forth again!

The cute family
Monday we went back to Sea World for just a couple hours because our tickets were good for two days and we missed a few things on Friday. We went and saw one of the killer whales swimming from underneath and it was really fun. The whale was just posing perfectly for us to take pictures with! We also got to ask a worker there tons of questions about killer whales. We also fed the dolphins which was fun. Matt had never touched a dolphin before, so that was neat. We also saw the polar bears, boy are they huge, and the otters. We were going to go on a ride, but it was closed down. We then went back to Ashley's and hung out for the day. We mostly hung out, but also went swimming for a little bit. It was a fun day and I was glad to be able to spend more time with Ashley, Byron and Lila.

Then, much to our chagrin, Matt and I had to leave. Tuesday was full of traveling and airplanes. Overall our trip was so much fun and Matt and I are already ready to go back for Christmas!

I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO GO UP IN A LIGHTHOUSE! Ever since I saw Pete's Dragon when I was wee-bitty. Am I jealous? Yes. A big fat yes.
